Lipstick Jungle - Season One on DVD

This show was a mid-season replacement during a year where a writers strike had decimated the rest of the shows.....

This is the new Sex and the City, but better!

First off, this show is great. It is compared to Sex and the City, and yes there is a bit of SATC-ish about it; but its truly a great show on its own. And- is it just me or whenever there is now a new show that has a strong female lead- is there not the inevitable comparison to SATC- either by the Public or the press? Moving on....

First Season

Second- yes there is a short amount of episodes on this DVD- but it is because its a mid-season replacement show- it did not debut with other shows in September. Plus- the year it came out- all the shows had been shut down because of the writer strike. So, yes, its a first season; but people should know and understand that its not the typical first season before they start taking stars off for shortness of season.
Think of this season as the first season of Greys Anatomy- which only had 9 episodes- was a mid-season replacement and STILL sells for 20 bucks on Amazon...

Lipstick Jungle was Cancelled...

This show has sadly been cancelled by NBC, I beleive. The second season ended in February and I dont believe that it is being renewed for a 3rd season. Which is a crying shame- as that it truly is a good show- with a cast that is funny and plays well off one another.
If you have read the book, the plot lines are similar; but the women in the book are older (or at least Victory in the book is- on the tv show, I believe Victory is in her late 20s/early 30s- but in the book, she is in her 40s)
I think you should give the show a try for another smart and funny show. It was one of my favorite shows to watch in its limited time on television

If you like Sex and the City- this is another must have for your collection! Not only have I read the book (loved that too) but I own this season and CAN NOT wait for Season 2 to come out in May. BUY IT!

Want a 24 poster?

If you're a fan of the TV Series '24', you will want to get a 24 poster for your wall.
These posters are really nice, and you can get them as large as 24"x36" (hehe - it had to be 24", right!).

I think the one shown here is cool: "Spend a day in my shoes" - LOL.

Want a '24' CTU T-shirt?

Even thought CTU is no longer in action, you can still buy the T-shirt ;)

And after the last episode, where Chloe revived the decommissioned CTU servers, it's even more fun to wear one. The T-shirt may serve as a sign of the good ol' 24 times, where Jack, Chloe and the other guys from CTU where stuffed in a basement with cool looking computers and funky ring tones.

Jon Voight gives a great performance in '24'

At last they meet: Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) questions an ill Jonas Hodges (Jon Voight), the leader of the shady military contractor Starkwood, as Renee Walker (Annie Wersching, in reflection) watches.Jon Voight, who hasn't played in a TV series since the lates 1960s, delivered a great performance in last weeks episode of 24. He was lying in bed, recovering from a suicide attempt, when Jack Bauer arrives to question him.
Voights character, Jonas Hodges, was thought to be the guy behind the attacks on the U.S., but it seems like he was just one piece of the puzzle. The conpiracy is much larger than this.

"It's really about broadening the conspiracy," says executive producer Howard Gordon, "by delivering on the details of the threat (Jonas) made to (President) Taylor, when he said he's just a cog in a larger machine." Hodges also explains his motives.

But the confrontation didn't come soon enough for Kiefer Sutherland. "One of the great fears of mine is that in many cases in 24, characters don't meet, and Jon and I took until the very bitter end," he says. As he received script after script with no scenes between Bauer and Hodges, "I finally had to go up to Howard and said, 'If you don't let me work with him, I'll kill you.' "

Voight is happy to be a part of the 24 team, and have some thoughts to share:

“People are telling me they don’t want this character to have his demise, and I don’t know what to say to them,” said the soft-spoken Voight.

“I had seen a couple of episodes in its first season, and I was very impressed with it - and with Kiefer’s work in it.

“I had occasion to meet him then at a charity event. I didn’t know him real well, but I went up to him and said, ‘This is going to be a wonderful thing for you, and I wish you the best with it.’ Then, when they asked if I would do this, I thought, ‘That’s interesting. That almost brings it full circle.’ The first day I started work on it, Kiefer showed up at my camper to welcome me, even though he wasn’t working that day. It was such a nice thing.”

“Nice” does not apply to Voight’s “24” alter ego, since Hodges masterminded a temporary takeover of the White House, steered biological weapons into the United States and turned murderous.

“You can’t figure out who this guy is, and even as I was doing it, I didn’t know the whole story,” he said.

24: Welcome Back, CTU... Or rather, CTU-Lite

24It seemed like one of those very big events, the sort that happens in movies right before the one last fight - everybody realizes things and decides to get their heads together, before setting off for that one last fight.

It felt that way when, on last week's 24, a returning Chloe O'Brian turned on the supposedly impounded CTU servers and, suddenly, all of the monitors at FBI switched to, you guessed it, that slightly comforting CTU interface. It just needed to happen ;) By the way, It's been strange seeing 24 without the familiar CTU Ringtone and the dark, underground office compound the always used. The FBI headquarters are a bit to normal looking for my taste...hehe.

But what's really on everyone's mind is what is going to happen to Jack? Is he going to recover from the pathogen attack? Is he not actually deserving this after all he has done in the past?

Another thing is woh else is going to die this season? After the death of Bill Buchanan it seems like no one's safe in the vicity of Jack Bauer...

Who do you think will be the next on to go?

The end is near for 'Prison Break'

http://images.starpulse.com/Photos/Previews/Prison-Break-fif095.jpgThe wild ride is almost over for the good, the bad and the ugly on "Prison Break."

For the last season there will be several twists and turns, surprises, returning characters and a death or two along the way.

Fans want to know what will happen to brothers Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), who have survived some incredible, and maybe also improbable, adventures.

After a riveting first season in which the ever-cool mastermind Michael helped the wrongly convicted Lincoln escape from the Fox River Penitentiary, they have been on the run.

Michael landed in a Panama prison, and, after another breakout, he and Lincoln are trying to bring down a mysterious conspiratorial agency called "The Company".

"Prison Break" often stretched the bounds of credibility. Part of the fun was in seeing how thin the stretch would be. Producer Olmstead says the biggest stretch for him was when Michael's body tattoos were erased overnight. Michael first went to jail with the floor plans of the prison worked into a full-body tattoo. By the second season, actor Miller was suffering from skin irritations from the temporary tattoos.

To explain the removal of the tattoos, "we kind of fudged it a little bit when he went to a supersecret tattoo removal place," Olmstead says.

A bigger stretch according to some, involved the show's resident villain Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell (Robert Knepper), who while on the run had a hand chopped off by an ax.

The evil T-Bag then forced a veterinarian to sew it back on. Amazingly, he survives the ordeal only to cut the hand off himself later in the story (to escape after being chained to a radiator).

He eventually got a prosthetic hand, presumably from a poor guy that had the misfortune to cross paths with T-bag in a bar. But how he attached it remains a mystery.

Olmstead says T-Bag is "a real cockroach" who is able to survive to cause trouble. "But obviously he's a big fan favorite," he says. "And it's a bit heartbreaking to see where he ends up. But it makes perfect sense."

Olmstead also says there's a "big surprise reveal" on the way with a returning character that will really shake things up. He says the relationship between Michael and Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) "wraps up unexpectedly. It's bittersweet but very satisfying.".

Will Matthew McConaughey play Captain America?

Captainamericacasting_lEW writes about the possibility of us seeing Matthew McConaughey as the patriotic superhero Captain America. The actor has been named on several lately when media has been talking about the movie.

Would be cool to see him in a role like that. He's got that boyish charm about him, and he's quite fit as well. I know he's into yoga, but he might have to add some muscles to look good in that suit :)

He hasn't seen the scropt yet, but he said this to MTV News when he was asked about playing Captain America: “It sounds fun”. McConaughey has long been a fan-favorite choice for the role and his name is now being tossed around with other rumored-contenders Channing Tatum and John Cena.

It might be a welcoming change for Matthew to play a superhero, as he's most known for his roles as goofy guys with commitment issues ;)

Now planned for a July 22, 2011 release, the film is still being directed by “Rocketeer” director Joe Johnston for release under the title “The First Avenger: Captain America” and is obviously set to position the character as a major player in the following summer’s “Avengers” mega-film.

What do you think? Would McConaughey make a good Captain America?
